I’m Alejandro Salomón, and I love NFTs. I’ve experimented with them and created several collections in the past. And I have to admit: things didn’t always go so well.
But to me, failure isn’t just a bad thing. It’s a lesson—and an opportunity to avoid making the same mistakes. MIGORY is my redemption act.
Looking back, I found two huge obstacles I needed to address before I could move forward.
01 / CREATIVE INDEPENDENCE
Partners, pace, and responsibility.
Having other people with a voice in—or control over—development often slowed down what I wanted to create. My vision felt clear to me, but it wasn’t always understood. That caused friction and problems. I’m not saying, “This is their fault.” I could certainly have done a better job of explaining my ideas.
There was also a mismatch in how we experienced the responsibility. As the public face of these projects, my reputation was attached to everything we delivered—or didn’t deliver. That was frustrating.
I wanted to innovate, take chances, and try things that hadn’t been done before. At times, I felt we were falling back on the same approach everyone else was taking in NFTs. To me, that leaves very little room for greatness. I would tell holders about new things I wanted to try, only to find myself unable to deliver them because of those roadblocks.
And the NFT world’s reputation made everything harder. Being associated with the space can mean being called a scammer or a criminal, regardless of your intentions. I understand why some public-facing partners wanted to distance themselves. It’s painful to feel that one project can overshadow everything else you’ve done.
How am I changing that?
I spent a long time figuring out how to build with more independence. With advances in AI, I can finally handle much more of the creative and technical work myself, without needing a large team or a huge ongoing budget.
Design, web development, animation, and storytelling no longer have to move through the same expensive, time-consuming process. I can explore an idea and start executing it immediately. The tools and platforms still matter, but I now have much more control over the direction and pace.
No more spending a gazillion dollars just to slow down. Now we run free!
02 / BEYOND THE MARKET
Build something beyond NFTs.
The second obstacle was the bear market. NFT markets are cyclical, and a downturn can hit even strong projects. Across the space, prices fell dramatically from their highs. Some fell less than others, but the losses were enormous.
I can’t control that market or promise to protect anyone from it. What I can do is keep building and give this project a reason to exist beyond the NFT itself.
NFTs are fun, and digital ownership is a great creative outlet. But I want MIGORY to begin with two bigger objectives:
A universe worth imagining.
Share my vision of the universe, spirituality, and reality through our characters and different forms of storytelling. Build characters and stories that can live beyond the NFT world.
Less scrolling. More creating.
Give kids and adults a reason to step away from their computers and phones and spend a little more time being creative.
I’m starting that second goal with a free coloring book featuring our characters, which you’ll be able to print at home. Coloring can be relaxing, and it gives kids a way to use their imagination without being on an iPad all day. The same goes for adults.
Don’t rush me, though. First, we need to finish minting the characters from the smaller collections. These are small steps, but you have to start somewhere. This is where I landed.
Will there be a Discord?
Absolutely not. In my experience, Discord often became a place where negativity fed on itself, expectations spiraled, and the work got lost in the noise. It could also give bad actors an opening to undermine creators and pull people toward their own projects.
I want to spend my energy creating and delivering. That doesn’t mean everyone has to agree with me. It means I’m choosing a different way to communicate.
I plan to add a blog here so you can follow the project through updates written directly by me. One place to hear what I’m working on, what’s ready, and what comes next.
Who will be able to mint?
I’m not looking to make money from the mint. I want to give the people who trusted me with my craziest past projects first dibs.
The first groups are from projects I originally started: Rebellion Bots, Plastiks, and Portal Guns. Although I still had partners involved in different ways, these projects began with my ideas.
I also don’t want to forget the people who supported us through some of the biggest purchases. That’s why I’m including holders of GOD characters from the Golems and Demons collections in this initial phase.
What about other Demons and Golems?
There will be an opportunity for active holders to participate in MIGORY too. I’m starting with the smaller collections before expanding to a larger group.
That isn’t about excluding people. I’m learning while doing this myself. If I mess something up, I can fix it much faster with a smaller number of NFTs than with thousands.
I also want to be upfront: some people may not like the transition. You might say, “I had this rare character, and now I have this?” I understand that reaction. MIGORY is a new collection; your old character’s rarity does not automatically carry over.
I’m not taking away your existing characters. You keep them, and if the people managing those collections want to do something with them, they still can. This isn’t an easy road to navigate, but MIGORY is the path I’m offering to anyone interested in participating.
You’re watching it happen.
You’re seeing the site, characters, and story develop in real time. I’ll keep building the Migoryverse in the way I know best, with the freedom to make my own creative decisions.
I’m a reactive creative: I respond to ideas, discoveries, and what’s happening around me. I don’t plan nine years ahead and then follow a spreadsheet step by step. That makes this project unpredictable, and to me, that freedom is one of its greatest strengths. I understand that it won’t be for everyone.
So, what’s next?
For now, we’re minting the characters and developing the Migoryverse story alongside them. The free coloring book will follow once we finish minting the smaller collections.
I have more ideas, but I won’t announce them until I have something finished to share. I’d rather show you what I’ve made than ask you to wait on another promise.
My approach is simple: keep creating, stay open, and trust that something great can come from it.
Thank you all!
Alejandro
